The year 2023 has been designated as the 'International Year of Millets' (IYM), thanks to a proposal put forward by India and endorsed by the U.N.'s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) governing bodies, as well as the 75th Session of the U.N. General Assembly. Falguni Shah expressed her excitement about the collaboration with Prime Minister Modi, sharing that he had personally written the song along with her and her husband. The composition, in English and Hindi, carries a powerful message about the potential of millets. The song, titled "Abundance in Millets," serves as a testament to the extraordinary nutritional value and importance of millets. Its release on June 16, coinciding with the International Year of Millets, aims to raise awareness about these incredible grains and their role in minimizing world hunger. Falguni Shah, who received a Grammy Award for Best Children's Album in 2022, revealed that the idea for the song came to her during a meeting with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi last year after her Grammy win. During their discussion on the transformative power of music, Prime Minister Modi suggested writing a song about millets to address the pressing issue of hunger. The collaboration between Falguni Shah and Prime Minister Modi developed organically, resulting in a single that showcases their combined efforts.
